Warwick Davis, who portrayed Professor Flitwick across the Harry Potter film franchise, is returning to the character for HBO's upcoming television adaptation. The actor called the opportunity "a huge honour" and said he remains "excited to retell these stories because they're fantastic stories."
Davis has been connected to the Harry Potter world for decades. He worked on the films for over 11 years and has continued collaborating with the team at the studio tour in Watford. "Harry Potter has become part of my professional life since the late 90s throughout until now," he told the Press Association. "So it's a constant. It's fabulous."
The actor described Flitwick as one of his favourite characters to play in his career. "He's a very warm, kind of likeable character," Davis said, explaining that he based the professor on some of his own teachers—the kind who would be understanding if a student forgot their homework. Davis remained tight-lipped about details of the new series, noting "it's all very top secret."
Davis joins a cast that includes Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, and John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore. The series will premiere on December 25, 2026, on HBO Max.
