Cristiano Ronaldo Starts For Al Nassr In Crucial AFC Champions League Clash

Cristiano Ronaldo enters today's match following a 3–0 Saudi Pro League victory against Diriyah Club on October 9, where he successfully opened the scoring. This return to club play arrives after a highly publicized dispute regarding playing time with Portugal national team coach Jorge Jesus, which led the Portuguese Football Federation to initiate disciplinary proceedings that could result in fines or suspensions lasting up to six months. For Al Nassr, this continental fixture serves as a vital opportunity to recover after a heavy 4–0 defeat to Al Ain in the tournament’s opening round. Securing three points at home is essential for the Saudi side to climb out of the bottom of the standings. Conversely, Neftchi Fergana arrives in Riyadh currently holding a playoff spot after securing a 1–0 win over Iraq’s Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in their first match of the competition. Head coach Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Ronaldo will start for the Saudi team today at Al-Awwal Park. Al Nassr’s lineup features a 4-4-2 formation with Bento in goal and a starting XI including Mohamed Simakan, Sadio Mané, and João Félix alongside Ronaldo. Neftchi Fergana will counter with a 4-2-3-1 setup managed by Islombek Ismoilov, featuring Marcus Forss at the point of attack. This match is part of the 2026–27 AFC Champions League Elite campaign. Following today's clash, both clubs will look to define their standing in the group as the tournament progresses further into the season.
