Tyler Huntley will make his 12th start for the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday after head coach Jesse Minter confirmed that star quarterback Lamar Jackson will not play. Jackson, who sustained an ankle injury during the team's Week 4 victory over the Tennessee Titans, remained a non-participant in practice throughout the week, leading to the decision to keep him sidelined for the upcoming matchup in Atlanta.
The absence of the two-time AP NFL MVP presents a significant challenge for the 3-1 Ravens as they face a surging Atlanta Falcons team. Historically, Baltimore has struggled without their primary signal-caller, holding a 6-11 record in games Jackson has missed since he became the starter in 2018. The injury brings immediate concern regarding how much time the quarterback will miss, given his history of multiple-game absences in previous seasons.
Tyler Huntley, now in his sixth season and his second stint with Baltimore, steps into the starter role after completing 8 of 9 passes for 63 yards in relief during the win against Tennessee. Huntley holds a career record of 7-9 as a starter, including a 5-6 mark during his previous years with the Ravens.
Beyond Jackson, the Ravens have also ruled out defensive end Trey Hendrickson for the Week 5 game due to a finger injury. The team continues to navigate a busy injury report, with further updates expected as they finalize preparations for the 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff.
