Kaizer Chiefs enter Tuesday's fixture sitting fourth in the Betway Premiership with 13 points from seven matches, trailing league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by seven points. The club returns to competitive action after an extended three-week FIFA international break, having last played to a goalless draw against Golden Arrows on September 20. Coach Fernando da Cruz emphasized the necessity for his squad to stop dropping points to remain in close contact with the teams currently occupying the top spots in the league standings.
Securing a result against Stellenbosch is essential for Chiefs to maintain their momentum during a condensed October schedule. The team has recorded three wins and four draws in their opening seven matches, scoring 12 goals while conceding seven. Defender Bradley Cross noted that while the team's start to the season has been positive, there remains significant room for improvement as they work toward competing for the league title.
Stellenbosch arrives at the FNB Stadium positioned seventh on the log with nine points. The visitors are coached by Gavin Hunt and feature several former Chiefs players in their ranks. To bolster their squad, Chiefs have welcomed back three players who recently represented the South African U23 national team. The medical department is currently assessing the status of Luke Baartman, who is managing an injury, with further updates expected closer to kick-off.
Following Tuesday's encounter, Kaizer Chiefs face a busy period, including an upcoming trip to Zambia to face Red Arrows at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday. Fans are encouraged to attend the home match, with tickets priced at R80 available through the MyTicket app and selected retail outlets.
