Aatu Raty cleared waivers on Thursday before the Toronto Maple Leafs finalized the deal to bring the 23-year-old forward into their organization. Raty previously helped the Abbotsford Canucks secure the Calder Cup in 2025 and has recorded 14 goals and 29 points across 118 career NHL games. His professional experience includes stints with the New York Islanders and the Vancouver Canucks, the latter of which he joined in 2023. This season, Raty averaged 10:10 of ice time over four games with Vancouver, contributing one goal.
This roster shift provides the Vancouver Canucks with two new players to bolster their overall depth as the season progresses. General Manager Ryan Johnson noted the organization's intent to continue finding ways to improve the group by working with these new young prospects. The move marks a significant change for both teams as they adjust their forward depth charts.
Jacob Quillan joins the Canucks after recording three points in 24 NHL games with Toronto and appearing in 114 games for the Toronto Marlies. He is credited with a Calder Cup title from his time with the Marlies. Brandon Buhr also moves to Vancouver, bringing his experience from the NCAA, where he recorded 88 points over 116 games split between Clarkson University and Union College. Buhr was named to the ECAC Second All-Star Team in 2026 after a successful collegiate career.
